 Racing License for 2012

Don't forget that you can renew your racing license for the 2012 season on-line or at the Griffith Tile Centre.

 ITT Club Championships

Paul Clancy smashed his championship record on his way to winning another Individual Time Trial Championship. A first lap of 15:06 blew away the single lap record and this was followed up with a 15:20 to stop the clock at 30:26.

Mal Blake was sensational in third with 31:53 to break the 32 minute barrier for the first time.

Kingsley Massey fought off the remaining challengers to clinch third in 33:45

Damian Giason took the B grade title from Albert Ravanello.

In C grade Tony Delgigante won his first trophy after a great ride from Frank Signor who surprised everyone and Danny Toaldo third.

Wendy Minato was crowned the women's champion.

 GMCC Final Result

Malcolm Blake continued his excellent year by winning the 2011 Griffith Motorcycle Centre Cup. Blake started the year on chopping block but finished it on scratch and has been the biggest improver in the club. The pointscore trophy goes along with his two interclub Tour de Riverina wins as well as the Tour of Two Rivers KOM title and a super second place in the Tour of Two Rivers final event finishing atop a 2.5 km leg breaker. Not to be content with those results he put in a sensational time in the ITT Club Champs.

 Amy's GranFondo

How good was this event? Just Super.

This is a must do event in 2012 for those that missed out. I am sure those that did it this year will definitely be back to do it next year.

Club riders who qualified for the Masters World Championships are: David Alpen, Peter Budd, Albert Ravanello, Rose Piccolo and Wendy Minato.

 Club Racing 2011

There is a full calendar of racing in 2011 with Club racing, interclub racing and open events.

Our Club events include the season long pointscore as well as Club Championships for both road racing and individual time trial plus the Hanwood Cup and Yoogali Cup trophy races.

There will also be a few races that don't win you a trophy but you do get bragging rights. We will try to have a couple of teams events throughout the year where the format allows all the riders to take part as a team with strategy being as important as strength.

The Griffith Motorcycle Centre is once again sponsoring the major pointscore event so they will be designated GMCC events on the race program. There will be 10 races to the series with a riders best 8 point scoring rides counting.

Points are allocated as follows:

10 points for riding

10 points for winning, 9 for second, 8 for third down to 5 for sixth placing

14 points for doing duty the first time plus 10 points thereafter

A 2011 race program is now posted and you will find it in the calendar link on the left hand side.

 Club Kit

As most members would know it is club policy that club jerseys be used in Interclub events unless part of an approved series team. The purpose is to make it easy to spot a fellow club rider in the bunch plus to be seen as a unified group proud of our club. In State Open events the official club jersey is compulsory as a Cycling NSW rule.

Club kit is available at the Griffith Tile Centre. Call in and see Jason or Robert.

 Saturday Ride

This is not a sanctioned club ride. It is a regular ride by a number of local riders and is listed here if you are looking for that type of ride.

The ride is non supported and the Griffith Cycle Club takes no responsibility as it is just a group of individuals out for a social ride. There are no support vehicles and no corners are marshalled. As always riders must obey traffic laws.

This ride is a great introduction to riding in a group situation. The speed is kept to a steady pace and the route provides the opportunity for riders to peel off and head back to town if needed.

The full ride goes for 45km and takes 90 minutes to complete. Post ride coffee is at Miei Amici. Riders are asked not to lean their bikes against the adjoining shopfronts.

All riders are welcome to try.
